Hello folks, Finally, TecUthsav ’08, the grand gala has come to an end. And to be fair, for an event being first of this kind, this was a big success. The participants were from almost all colleges including colleges like College of Engg., Guindy and PSG Tech. Coimbatore. The event was spread over four days and the events were divided based on the domains. On the first day, 14-2-o8, events of the Departments of Mechanical, Mechatronics and Civil engg. were conducted. On the next day, events in electronics domain were organised by the departments of ECE and EEE. On the last two days, software and other related events were conducted by the departments of CSE, IT and MCA.
The most attractive events were Mechtracks from the mechanical dept and Lord of the Ring by the dept of CSE. Sorry that I am not aware of the nature of the contests from the electronics and electrical sections. Mectracks was an event in which the participants had to get remote controlled play-cars and make some modifications to it chasis and amek those cars run on a specially laid mini track that resembles the chinese grand prix track. The Lord of the Ring is a five-stage event that was conducted on 16-2-08 and 17-2-08. The stages included solving a Maze(qualifying round) followed by Obfuscated code output prediction, Google wars( Get the given search entry as the top result in google), Programming in an unfamiliar language(LISP) and code completion.
Other events include web designing, Cryptography contests, and ofcourse paper presentation. Other departments had similar interesting events as well. The first contest for the inaugural TecUthsav was the Online Programming Contest(OLPC) which was conducted on 10-2-08 online from 14:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs. For the first time in TCE, the OLPC was fully automated. For this event, we has participants not only from the colleges, but from the corporate world as well. A lot of surprise events were also conducted during the course of these four days.
The main people behind the success of this event were the juniors. On all four days, the major part of the decoration was done by the juniors, especially girls. Worth mentioning is the contribution of our juniors for the decoration of the campus for the events on 16-2-08. From the work they all had done, it is easy to infer that most of the juniors had spent many hours for this event. Then for organising the contests in a proper and timely manner, we must really thank our juniors who were part of the organising team for each and every event.
Finally, the organising committe, comprising of the general secretaries, joint secretaries and treasurers of various departments, members of organising committee and other students had all spared so much time in making this event a big success. I would also appriciate the contributions of the staff coordinators for various events and the Dean and Principal for making this inaugural TecUthsav a memorable event.
